Mr Klenn Chong serves as the Head of Network Infrastructure for Regional Infocomm Technology Southeast Asian (RITSEA) Division at PSA Corporation Limited (PSA). Alongside his team members, Mr Chong currently oversees the operations and management of PSA’s 24x7 mission critical networking infrastructure as well as responsible for the rollout of products, systems and technologies that are in line with PSA Group’s Business and IT strategies. Since joining PSA in 2007, he has taken up various IT leadership roles and spearheaded various IT infrastructure projects, including a recent partnership with IMDA Singapore to conduct 5G Trial for Port use cases.

5G - Powering Connectivity in the Next Generation Port
5G mobile technology is positioned as the next evolution of the mobile data network after 4G and a catalyst for Industry 4.0. In the past when wireless mobility use cases were not pervasively used to support industrial use cases, enterprise migration from 2G to 3G and from 3G to 4G/LTE were merely done due to technology obsolescence. However, fast forward to today, PSA port operations are experiencing exponential growth in data generated, and the heavy reliance on data to make quick and accurate business decisions indirectly means that there will be an ever-increasing demand for high performance cellular mobile networks to enable multitude of use cases to support port operations. In anticipation that future port innovations and use cases will soon be limited by existing 4G/LTE technologies, PSA started its journey to explore the potential capabilities of 5G and other 5G technologies such as Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) as early as 2018.
